About Norse Projects

Tobia Sloth, Anton Juul and Mikkel Grønnebæk opened Norse Projects in central Copenhagen in 2004 — a streetwear shop with an art gallery attached, selling other people's clothes and putting on shows. The in-house menswear line came five years later, in 2009, and Sloth has been creative director since. That order matters, because the brand came out of retail rather than design school: they had spent five years watching what people actually bought and wore before making anything themselves. Womenswear followed in 2015.

Norse Projects shirts, t-shirts and knitwear

The bulk of what we carry and the part of the range that explains the brand. Shirts run from the Algot and Anton in cotton and flannel through the oversized Falster and Espevik cuts to the Ivan and Carsten short-sleeve shapes for summer. T-shirts are mostly the Johannes body in organic cotton, plain or with a small print, plus the heavier Norse Standard loose fit. Knitwear and jersey cover the Arne hoodies and Norse Standard sweatshirts, the Ketel half-zips, and the lambswool and alpaca beanies that sell all winter. Product names are Danish and mostly place names or forenames — Falster and Mols are islands, Johannes and Anton are people — which is a useful shorthand once you know it, since the name stays constant across seasons while the fabric changes.

Norse Projects jackets, trousers and caps

The outerwear is where the fabric spending shows: Gore-Tex Windstopper on the Kastrup bomber, cotton-wool cavalry twill on the Aksel, alpaca on the Erik, and plain cotton canvas on the Raabjerg. Trousers are cut around a handful of fits that repeat each season — the Aros and Ezra in light stretch, the Ragnar in corduroy, the Mogens five-pocket in heavy twill — so once you know which suits you, the buying gets easier. Caps and bucket hats round it out, the six-panel and N-logo shapes in canvas and denim.
