Headwear is the bulk of the range and the fabrics are the point of it. The 60/40 cloth hats use a cotton-nylon blend that goes back decades in Japanese outdoor clothing — cotton fibres swell when wet and close the weave, so it turns light rain without a membrane and breathes better than one when it is dry. Pe/Co caps and hats are the plainer everyday option. The corduroy caps are the winter version, and the mohair shaggy knit caps and stoles are the pieces people tend to buy on sight rather than because they came looking — heavy, brushed, and considerably warmer than they look.

And Wander socks, gloves and neck warmers

The small things that make a cold day tolerable, and the ones most people forget until they need them. Wool socks in the brand's logo pattern do the job wool does — warm when damp, and less prone to going sour over a long day than synthetics. High loft fleece gloves and the matching neck warmer use the same deep-pile fleece as the jackets, which traps air rather than blocking wind, so they are warm and not especially weatherproof. Worn under a shell they work; worn alone in driving rain they will wet out.

And Wander bags and the Miir bottle

A small selection rather than the full bag range. The Ecopak 30L 3Way tote carries three ways, as the name says, and Ecopak is a recycled laminate that is waterproof and holds its shape rather than slumping. The shoulder pouch is the small everyday one. The Miir bottle and pint cup are a collaboration with an American drinkware maker, insulated stainless steel with the And Wander logo — the least outdoor thing on the page and among the easiest to give as a present.
