Hestra FAQs
Hestra owns its factories and makes its gloves in them rather than buying in finished product. Design and development happen at the headquarters in Hestra in southern Sweden, and the company buys all its own leather, wool and lining. Several models are hand-sewn by experienced glove makers.
It stretches to the shape of the hand and stays supple instead of stiffening as it ages, so a deerskin glove breaks in to fit you and then holds that fit. It is also naturally hard-wearing, which is why it is used on the models meant to last years rather than a season.
Snug rather than tight, with a little room at the fingertips. Leather gloves stretch slightly with wear, so a pair that feels close on the first day usually settles; a pair that feels roomy will stay roomy. Hestra sizes by measuring around the knuckles of your dominant hand, so check the sizing detail on the individual product page.
On many models, yes. Hestra introduced removable liners in the 1980s specifically so a worn or wet liner could be replaced or dried on its own rather than the whole glove being discarded. Whether a particular pair has one is listed on its product page.
